Generally, it is a good idea to call the photographer to ask some questions that may not be fully answered by just browsing their website, such as if and how they will help you prepare for the photo shoot, what kind of retouching they offer, what is the turnaround time or, unless it is specified on the website, how much do the packages cost?

Hopefully, this will get you the answers you are looking for and allow you to get a feel for the photographer. Are they easy to deal with and forthcoming with clear answers? Are they prompt in getting back to you? This can be almost as important as the services themselves.
